There was always music playing in our house when I was growing up.  I learned a great deal by listening to AM radio.  Where else were you going to hear Mac Davis sing 'Baby, Don't Get Hooked on Me' followed by Billy Preston's 'Outta Space' followed by Badfinger's 'Day After Day'?  You don't get that anymore.  Modern radio tends to be genre specific.  Listeners are seldom challenged to stray out of their comfort zone.  It can make for lazy ears, I think.

I have always been first and foremost a bass player.  I've worked with countless musicians, played in many styles-blues, soul, rock, jazz, country, and folk.  When I first started out, there was always a demand for someone to hold down the bottom end.  Weekends usually meant a Saturday wedding then a club gig, followed by a jazz brunch on Sunday.  It was an education.

Songwriting was always something I thought I'd get around to doing but it's taken a while.  What emerged are tales of the flawed, the wounded, and those on the fringe.  I'm in love with the losing battle and all who fight it.
